Thomas D. Ciz
Thom brings to his clientele a wealth of knowledge gained over twenty years in the practice of law focused primarily on taxation and related matters. Thom's broad experience includes income tax and commodity tax matters involving individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships as well as registered charities, non-profit organizations, and First Nations.
Thom obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1982 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1991. He also qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. Thom was employed as an accountant for Deloitte & Touche LLP from 1982 to 1986 and as a financial analyst for Enbridge Inc. from 1986 until 1988 before commencing his study of law. Immediately after graduation, Thom articled with McCarthy Tétrault LLP and became an associate in 1992 and a partner in 1998. In 2001 Thom joined KPMG LLP where he practiced Canadian international taxation until 2003 when he accepted the position of General Counsel of an entreprenurial private concern. Thom continued in this position until 2012 when he left to establish In Omnia Paratus Law Corporation.
